Broach Baseball Tours took us to the All Star Game in Minneapolis. In all my years of being a Baseball fan, I had only been to one All Star Game before. It is a right of passage that all Baseball fans should do.
This year it was held at Target Field.
It was a beautiful night for Baseball.
Like I said, a beautiful night for baseball.
Target Field in Minneapolis, in fact the entire city was ready for us fans. The people were happy and helpful. Every year the ASG is in a different city, and it is a big hit for the local economy.
They have a parade the day before, with every all star riding in the back of a Chevy pickup truck, Chevy being a major sponsor.
The Dodgers Yasiel Puig was there. His pickup was full of family members. I cannot figure out how they got out of Cuba
Two of the all stars we saw will probably be the two MVPs of the 2014 season.
This is Mike Trout of the Anaheim (NOT Los Angeles) Angels. He has had a phenomenal year, as have the Angels.
And this is Clayton Kershaw. The best pitcher in Baseball. A Dodger. If he does not win the MVP, there is something wrong.
The parade was not especially well organized. It took way too long between players. But to entertain us, most of the park mascots were on hand.
The city, the park and the game were all excellent, and we had a memorable, excellent night.
This was Derek Jeter’s last all Star game, last of fourteen. They removed him in the bottom of the third and the crowd went absolutely wild. They played Sinatra’s New York New York as he got a long standing O and shakes from all the team mates.
After Jeter was removed, hey, I needed a beer. Target Field has SELF SERVING beer dispensers.
This is how it works. You buy this card (Automatic Draft Card ADM?) for any amount. It will only let you dispense two beers an hour or something like that. You sick it in the ADM machine and put your cup under the dispenser. Ingenious.
It is difficult to talk about baseball and beer, without thinking about Budweiser and the iconic clydesdales. They were on display and later paraded around the park.
Well folks, besides the game, which the American League won, bummer, that was our ASG experience. I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for reading, share with a friend, and for the clydesdale if nothing else, make a comment.
